"Love my Flip" 2010-05-07
By K. Cioffredi (New York)
I have the flip and i love it. Fits in your pocket so it is ready when ever you need it. Great HD video. Cost is low. It is very easy to use. Open the box install the battery and you are ready to roll. I also like that it will run on 2 AA batteries in case the rechargeable one dies.

"Love this little camcorder" 2010-05-06
By gfkdipper (TX USA)
Just the portability and ease of use makes this little camcorder something we use often. We have two other video cameras we've had for years and we never use them, just because they are more difficult to carry and to use and to upload from. I haven't done any tests or comparisons to see the actual quality of the video, but it looks fine to me. I do wish there was a way to know exactly how much battery was left before it needed recharging.
It's not much bigger than my cell phone, so I just keep it handy on my desk or end table and everytime the great-grandbaby is over we get a few minutes of "life discovery" - first rollover, first juice-sicle, crawling, discovering the toy box, making friends with dog. All of this we probably wouldn't have gotten with a larger camcorder. With the little tripod, I can even aim it toward a chair or sofa or area on the floor and then record myself with the baby. Sharing it by email is a breeze, something I've yet to figure out with my Canon SX10 videos.

"Fantastic camera for home movies" 2010-05-06
By Mary Camelson (Lebanon, NH)
My husband and I love this camera. It holds plenty of videos (I was concerned when I initially got it that it only holds 120 minutes and can only be emptied by connecting to a PC), the video quality is great for simple home movie DVDs and YouTube, and the camera and software are both incredibly easy to use. The upload to YouTube was beyond simple - there is a dedicated option for it within the Flip software. Even my mom, who is not the most tech-savvy person, was able to use the camera to shoot videos with virtually no instruction from me. The little display is great, and the bag the camera came with works well to remove fingerprints on the lens and display. I also recommend this camera over the Flip Mino because you can use the camera's included rechargeable batteries, or if you forget to charge the camera, you can also use regular AA batteries - very convenient for travel!

The only things I don't like about the camera, and they are minor, are:
- The carrying bag is not very protective, just a little microfiber sack. I'd recommend purchasing a padded or hard case for travel, but still use the bag to keep the lens clean and free of scratches. That said, this camera is pretty durable. I've dropped it once or twice and it's totally fine.
- The software does not give you the option to directly unload the videos on your camcorder into "My Videos" or another folder of your choice (in Windows), it saves them to a Flip Video folder. You have to then take an extra step within the Flip software to export the videos to your computer. Not major, just a minor irritant.
- The file format of the videos when exported to my computer from the Flip software are not perfectly compatible with Windows 7/Vista's native video creation program - the audio and video are not synced properly (audio runs too fast - sounds like chipmunks). I searched online for a fix for this, and found that if I just change the file extension of the videos to ".mov" (Quicktime video) and then import them into the Windows program, the videos work perfectly.

"Enjoyable" 2010-05-06

No brainer. If you want Hi-Def video and easy editing, you buy this. Point and shoot. I wish the zoom was better, but overall, for the price and what it gives you in return, it's a must buy.

"Great little Camera with 1 exception" 2010-05-05
By L. Ball (Austin, TX USA)
I purchased this camera along with an extra Flip battery and the waterproof housing for our family vacation. The camera works great and is really easy to use. My daughter loved using it as well. She had it in the pool, she had it in the hot tub, she had it at the turtle farm. My youngest daughter used it going down the water slide.

The software is incredibly easy to use, and I love the fact that all software is contained on the camera itself. No need to carry a disc or search the internet for software. It's always with you as long as you have the camera. So what is wrong with this? That is next...

The battery came with it charged and it lasted quite a awhile considering it was on quite all the time. The downfall to this is the battery itself. I paid extra for another Flip battery because i thought it would be the best for it. I wish I had purchased a nice set of rechargeable Energizers or something like that. In order to charge the batteries you have to have them in the camera and the camera plugged into a USB port on your computer or a wall adapter that I also have. The battery will start to charge most of the time, but once you leave it alone for any length of time it will overheat and stop charging. You will not know this unless you happen to have it plugged into a USB cord and can flip the camera on its front. You need to see the screen to see if it's charging and most USB ports plug in to the screen is against the table or whatever you have it laying on. I can pretty much not charge either battery now as they do nothing but overheat. I have tried pointing a fan on it, buying cables to give it more room to stand and they just overheat. That makes these two batteries worthless. The only saving grace is the camera can also use AA batteries. If it was not for that, this would have gone back as useless.

Don't buy the batteries from Flip, buy some 15 minute rechargeable AAs and save yourself the headache.
